    Mattress

We really need a new mattress. I am planning to get one during the summer. The springs in the mattress we have is starting to stick out. Frankie even hurt himself one time because he slide off the side and got caught with the sticking spring. That is how I knew that the springs are sticking out. That bed needs to be changed anyway. It is so hard and it gives me sleepless nights sometimes. I was just putting up with it and now that it is in that condition then it needs to go. I can’t wait for get a new one.

    Changes

I forgot how unsafe it is here. The first few days I got here, I couldn't help but freak-out because people just walk in front of the tricycle I was in. It is the passing into a very narrow road is another thing that I am so scared about. The street is always busy but even with that I still miss the place. There are a lot of places I would like to check next week after the holy week. I will definitely go to the place where our old house used to be. I heard it has so many changes and I want to see them.

I was talking with my Nonong Tonette last night, and he told me many changes in the place where we used to live. He said it was a little depressing because he remembers exactly what he used to do. I can't wait to check it out and take some pictures. I don't know when will be the next time I will be able to visit again, and I am sure everything will be so different.

    Stores

    Sunday, March 28, 2010

Cebu has changed a lot from the last time I have been home. The houses are different and those spaces that were empty before are now filled with houses. It is amazing to compare how it was and five years after. There are a lot of malls and stores there too. It is amazing how much cardboard displays they have that advertises their stores to the passerby. I haven’t been checking out each of the new stores, but it is awesome to see how much they say by just reading at their signs. Maybe this week or next week, we could go and explore it.

    Improvement

    Tuesday, March 23, 2010

“I easily get tired now”, that is what I kept telling Ryan when I weigh almost 140 lbs. after I gave birth to Frankie. Being big is so tiring. It is always so hard to move around, and I easily lose my breath. I am not taking any diet supplements then, but there are times that I wish I did. Losing weight would have been a lot easier than having to wait for it to take off the hard way. I know taking diet supplements is the easy way, but I don’t think there is another way besides of course working out. It was so hard to leave the house with a baby in tow worst of all when you go work-out.

I am just glad that things are getting better for me now when it comes to weight. I have seen an improvement, and I hope to stay the same to keep up with Frankie and also for my family.

    Papa's Permit

I am so static that Papa got his driver's permit, and he can now drive when we are together. He had a couple of mistakes, and he kept on repeating it over and over again because he couldn't figure out why he got it wrong. I had told him to be thankful that you passed.

Since he got the permit, he had been driving wherever we go. The first time I was driving with him, I couldn't help but freak out. He is so used to of how slow it is in the Philippines and indeed he was slow. He needs exactly what to do though, but he just needs practice. I have to remind him sometimes how much is the speed limit and not to completely stop when he is turning left because someone could rear end especially when they don't know that he was going to stop before turning.

Today however we went to visit my in-laws and take their pictures, so we could blow them up in the Philippines. Ryan came with us and to my surprise he let Papa drive. He had observed the things that he needs practice on which I really appreciate. He knows how to drive, but he just needs to get used to here before I will be confident to go get his driver's license.

    Buying Had Never Been Easy

    Friday, March 19, 2010

Last year, Ryan and I bought Papa his first professional digital camera. He was very static and loved it so much. He had a couple of lenses. It has the wide angle and the telephoto lens that is my favorite. Last week, I checked the internet and bought him two lens hoods for his lenses. It protects the captures from glare then a few days ago he got his tripod that we could use for the Philippines.

Ten years ago, I would not have done this. Now we can easily go to the internet and buy whatever we want and pay online. It is indeed very easy and very convenient. Sellers on the other hand could build their link popularity and manage directory submissions with a free seo software. Once a prospective buyer searches the internet, with proper handling of submissions and popularity links, their websites will be the first to come up. Selling items these days are so easy with the use of the internet.

If It Is Meant To Be

Ryan and I are planning to give Frankie a brother or a sister. We just need to wait for the right timing. We decided at first that Frankie would be ok alone, but we realized that he needs a sibling. We have even decided before to give away his clothes to Goodwill, but now that we have thought of it, we decided to wait. There are a lot of things that I want to do in this pregnancy (when and if that happens) that I did not do from the last time. I want to keep it a secret.

A few of my friends had done it and they liked it. It is less pressure from the people around you who never fails to offer their two cents even if it wasn’t asked for. I want to keep away from the stress and from people completely. Thinking of it makes me think of my routine when I was pregnant with Frankie. I remember waking up and drinking milk and eating bagel every morning. I never failed to take prenatal vitamins because I know it is very beneficial for the baby.

Hopefully when I get my degree that would be the time that I can get pregnant again. We are not in a rush though we are just taking our time. If this happens it would be nice but if not then it wasn’t meant to be.

    Mixed Emotions

A week from now we will be landing in Cebu International Airport. I have been thinking about finally meeting my family, but I am still caught up with so much stuff going on here. I feel like I couldn't enjoy until I finally get there. I have a lot of things to prepare at work. People to designate different jobs so the department won't go downhill once I leave. Paper works to prepare and things to assign. The sad thing is, I haven't even started packing. I have one essay due today, and I seem can't find the conclusion for it.

I actually can't wait to leave for work today, so I can get on the things that I wanted to do right away. I am happy that they scheduled me to close tomorrow, so Dada and I can go places before work. I am going to miss Caril and Jennifer, but I will see them again soon.

Ahh... I can't wait to feel their embrace again especially from my mama. I can't wait to take naps with her again. I can't wait to see the old beat up house where I grew up and the mango tree where I used to climb. I can't wait to visit relatives from the province and I just couldn't wait but before that happens, I still need to do these things. A week from now is not a long of a wait. I really need to start packing first.

    Business Strategy

    Thursday, March 18, 2010

Once a week, I always look forward to the different brochures that we get in the house together with our regular mails. I like going through them and checking on the different offers that each of the brochures has. Ryan collects them too if there is something worth keeping like a discount in our favorite restaurant or some good deals.

Sending brochures really help out businesses in the long run. We don’t even know some of the companies until we got the brochures in the mail. I believed that brochure printing is another wise strategy for people to learn about their business. If I will be able to open my daycare center in the future, I will definitely use this strategy.

    Long Distance Move

    Thursday, March 4, 2010

After the death of my cousin’s husband, she decided to move to Illinois for good. I really don’t blame her especially when I am the only family she had and we used to live very far from each other here. She is not getting any younger, and she prefers being around the people that she can easily ask help if she needs to. The only issue she has is how she is going to move everything she has to the Chicago when she is from New York. I assured her that there are long distance moving companies that could help her with her move and to make it a lot easier for her. Besides, we will be here for her to extend our helping hand.

    A Little Rough

Frankie is not the nicest to the little babies. Ryan had separated the boys and the girls. He thought that the babies are both male then later he found out that the other is a girl. Good thing he caught that early on. We couldn't leave Frankie with any of them because he thinks he is playing with them. My dad even noticed that the girl was limping while she is walking. We knew it was Frankie. He is a little rough on them that is why we never leave him alone. There are times when one of us had to use the bathroom and he is really quick with them. I hope we can find someone who would love to have them that would love them too. We will give the cage and everything that goes with it too since we have already have 2 in the house.

Posted by Merydith at 9:53 PM Links to this post

    HDTV

My dad watches the instant play movies at an online movie rental place all the time. Unfortunately, with how long the movies are, it heats up and shuts is completely. I already bought him that little fan that goes underneath the laptop. It helps but the screen is too small too for the movies. It would be nice to have a Samsung HDTV, so my dad could just hock up the laptop, and he can watch it through the TV. It would be nice for Frankie too because there area lot of kid’s movies. I guess what is what I am going to be saving next among other things.

Posted by Merydith at 9:49 PM Links to this post

    Movers

One of the main mistakes that Ryan and I did when we moved to this house was we did not hire local movers to help us move everything. We tried to do it by ourselves with the help of our relatives, and we did some of the moving too but with both of us working full time jobs it took forever to get everything settled. I remember putting everything in the center of the living room and moved them one by one when we got a chance, or when we have off from work. We both took a week off from work but that did not help at all, so we definitely know better now. I even convinced my friend who is moving to get local movers if she wants to get settled as soon as possible.

    Holy Week

I didn't realize that the week we will arrive in the Philippines is the holy week. I was so excited when I knew it was. It's been a while since I celebrated holy week the Filipino way with all the fasting and going to church. It is just different here. One of the things I really missed is the passion of the cross and the procession every Good Friday. Of course waking up for Easter for church and for the "sugat". Although, I won't be able to do a lot of things the first week because of the observance of the holy week, but I will be happy and contented that I will be able to do it again especially the "visita iglesia" with my entire family. I am really looking forward to it. I grew up doing it, and it will be awesome to do it again.
